This painting is the third in a series of four paintings dedicated to 100 Years of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the first President of the United Arab Emirates.
Sheikh Zayed believed that the natural environment is an integral part of the country, its history and heritage. He warned that, as a vital resource for all of us, we must take care and preserve the environment for future generations so that it is preserved forever.
Examples of plants and animals that are threatened in the UAE are represented here (from the centre outwards): the desert ghaf tree, hammour fish, Arabian oryx, flamingo, green turtle and mangroves.
