Harmony

100cm x 100cm Mixed media on canvas

This painting featured in the RAK Fine Arts Festival, February, 2018.

Based on Divine Unity’s perfect symbol, the circle, this painting explores the repetition and rhythm of life and the primordial beauty of nature.

Throughout its long history, Islamic Geometry has sought to bring balance and harmony into an otherwise chaotic world. This reconstruction of a twelvefold hexagonal pattern from Qarawiyyin Mosque in Fez, Morocco (AD 857/ AH 243) features soothing colours of the sea. It has been embellished with contemporary abstract ornamentation embodying organic life; including dried star fish from local beaches in the UAE.
